Configuring LU e-mail as IMAP in Apple OS X Yosemite Mail

Let's look at how the configuration of LU e-mail is done in Apple Mac OS X 10.10 (Yosemite) operating system's integrated e-mail client Mail. This manual will serve just as good for its previous versions because the principles are the same. More information about LU e-mail servers, their names, ports, can be found in the article About LU e-mail servers.

To begin configuration of LU e-mail in Mail program, let's open the program itself, select "Mail" - "Add account" from main menu.

Choose to add Add other mail account" and click "Continue".

In the "Add a mail account" window fill the required fields.
In the "Full name" field enter your name and surname or anything that should be displayed in the "sender" field when the recipient receives and reads the mail.
In the "E-mail address" field enter your LU e-mail address in the form

name.surname@lu.lv

In the "Password" field enter the corresponding password.
Click "Create".

When confirmation "Account must be manually configured" is displayed, click "Next".

Choose IMAP under "Account type".
In the "Mail server" field enter

pophost.lanet.lv

In the "Username" and "Password" field provide your LU username and password.
Click "Next."

Fill the required information in "Outgoing Mail Server Info" window.
In the "SMTP Server" field enter

ezis.lanet.lv

In the "Username" and "Password" field provide your LU username and password.
Click "Create."

That's it for the configuration. "Mail" program sets ports and security settings automatically. But we recommend that you send a test e-mail to make sure everything's working.

Should you find any errors or program is misbehaving, please double-check the server's configuration with the LU e-mail server information in the article About LU e-mail servers.
